What is Information
Before any business can control its information assets it need to understand what they are. The term “Information Security” is specifically related to the controls and understanding of information. That information can be categories in three main areas.
Confidentiality – ensuring that the information is not viewed by any person without clear authorisation.
Integrity – ensuring that the information received is correct and that any changes, modification and transfer of the information is properly monitored.
Availability – ensuring that the information is available to the right people within a suitable timeframe in line with your business objectives.
